Learning Area Leader - Technology (POL 3)

Full Time, Ongoing

Teacher - POL 3.

29 January 2018 commencement.

The Learning Area Leader – Technology will have responsibility for the provision of quality learning and teaching in Food, Wood, Metal, Textiles, ICT, VET Building and Construction, Energy Breakthrough, Systems Technology and Digital Technologies across the College.  

Damascus College has state of the art learning facilities in Materials Technology – Wood and Metal, well equipped Food Technology and Textiles facilities and a comprehensive one to one personal device program utilising Microsoft Surface Pros.  The Energy Breakthrough team has a dedicated facility within the College. 

Subjects that run through to Year 12 include Product Design and Technology – Wood/Metal, Food Technology, Systems Technology, Information Technology Software Development, and VET Building and Construction. In 2018, Damascus College will commence a STEM program within the Year 8 curriculum and the Learning Area Leader – Technology will have a key role in the integration of digital technologies within this and across the College.  

The Learning Area Leader is to work closely with the Assistant Principal – Learning and Teaching to lead the Learning Area both strategically and practically. The Learning Area Leader must display a passion for learning, be an excellent classroom teacher, display innovative and inspiring classroom practices and be well versed in contemporary educational pedagogy. 

He/she must develop and maintain curriculum programs at academically rigorous and challenging standards. Pedagogy and assessment practices are to be leading edge, while maintaining sound foundations in basic learning. The Learning Area Leader must support Teacher Advisors in ensuring improved student outcomes as a means of improved pastoral care.

This role will ensure that classroom practices meet the learning needs of all students and will lead a dynamic professional learning team.

An ability to teach ICT and Digital Technologies will be an advantage.

Sports Co-ordinator (POL 2 / Learning Support Officer)

Full Time, Ongoing

Teacher:  with Position of Leadership 2 including 21 periods of time release.

Non-teacher:  Category A Learning Support Officer, Level 3 Education Support Worker.

29 January 2018 commencement.

An exciting opportunity exists within Ballarat's fastest growing school sporting program.  This role is suited to a keen sports person who is genuinely interested in building the culture of participation and success at Damascus College.

The successful applicant will work closely with the College leadership to ensure appropriate sporting pursuits are available for each student and that all students participate actively in the College sporting program.

This position may be filled by a teacher with time release of 21 periods per fortnight, or by a non-teacher with appropriate sports leadership qualifications and experience.
