Legacy ANZAC Day Schools Memorial

On Friday 21st April, three Year 10 Student Representative Council members, Talia Waldron, Matthew Snibson and Emma Webb joined the annual Legacy Ballarat’s secondary school trip to the ANZAC Day Schools Memorial at the Shrine of Remembrance. Here is their report:

Legacy's 86th ANZAC commemoration ceremony for students was truly a humbling experience. Throughout the ceremony we learnt more about the ANZACs and how the wars affected their families and their mental health. We saw the schools lay down wreaths around the eternal flame in front of the cenotaph, for the fallen soldiers. We saw the flame lit by Queen Elizabeth II In 1954 that has burned continuously ever since. We saw the sanctuary and the stone of remembrance within. We saw how everyone was so respectful to these soldiers, and we saw how it brought us together to thank them for their sacrifice.
