Big changes are underway in the St Martins Resource Centre
As a centre of support for the Learning and Teaching program at Damascus College, the Library at Damascus College has undergone a major review. Effective school libraries, including our own, have demonstrably undergone significant change over the 10 years since the SMRC was purpose re built as a resource centre.
The most obvious developments at the St Martins Resource Centre over the next 12 months, will be a transformation of spaces in response to needs of the students and staff. More subtle but equally transforming changes will become apparent in the SMRC digital presence, pathways for students and staff to access resources, e-books, databases and hard copy. Students will be encouraged to participate in building ideas for the ongoing development of the spaces both physical and digital.
Physical Space Stage 1: Over the mid semester break, the IT department will be reforming in a designated space within the SMRC (as per picture below). This will mean that the non-fiction collection will be moved from the large shelving to a temporary space in the Library. Stay tuned for more developments next semester.
