Woolworths Super 8s Comp

Year 7 and 8 Damascus College students battled it out at Vic Park for the Woolworth’s Cricket Blast School Cup – Super 8’s on Thursday October 18. Many of the girls involved picked up a cricket bat for the first time at the clinic on Tuesday, so it was great to see the enthusiasm of all involved.

All students displayed excellent sportsmanship and did an outstanding job representing Damascus College.

A huge thanks to Mr Hamish Walsh, Mr Shaun O’Loughlin, Mr Pat Dillon and Year 9 student Tahlia Meier for coaching each of the teams.

The Year 7 Boys team finished 4th whilst the Year 8 Boys team finished 5th.

The greatest success for the day was with the girls, with both teams finishing 2nd in their pool, therefore granting them a place into the final. The Year 7 girls fought hard however lost the final to BHS 78-83.

The Year 8 girls also played BHS, however came away with the win 113-105. The Year 8 team will now head to the West Finals in Yarraville on Wednesday November 14.
