Damascus College Presents...
Around The World in Eighty Days by Mark Brown is a stage adaption of the classic adventure novel by Jules Verne. It was published in 1873 and has been described by some as the equivalent of the world’s first action movie.
Stampeding elephants, raging typhoons, runaway trains, and unabashed slapstick combine for the original amazing race. Join fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg and his faithful manservant as they race to beat the clock. Phileas Fogg has agreed to an outrageous wager that puts his fortune and his life at risk. With his resourceful servant Passepartout, Fogg sets out to circle the globe in an unheard-of 80 days. But his every step is dogged by a detective who thinks he's a robber on the run. Danger, romance, and comic surprises abound.
This year’s Damascus College school production will feature a highly visual style that incorporates elements of classic farce, storytelling and crazy transformation. The sheer spirit of theatrical imagination will combine with the great industrial age to produce a fun show that promises to take an audience around the world in eighty days. A small cast of 17 performers play over 50 characters in this madcap adaption of Verne’s globetrotting classic. Perfect for adults, families and children of all ages.
