Victorian Inter School Cycling Championships

On Thursday 19th September Year 9 students Shannon Craggill and Sam McDonald and Year 12 student Travis O’Brien competed in Round 4 of the Victorian Inter Schools Cycling Competition in Bendigo.

Travis received bronze, Sam took home silver and Shannon won gold.

Round 5 will be held on 11th October at Victoria Park in Ballarat. Damascus students are welcome to enter and join these three students aiming to be named the best school in Victoria and to win the prestigious trophy. You don’t even need a bike or helmet as Cycling Victoria can supply them. If you are interested, please contact Mrs Hexter, Damascus Sports Coordinator.

Well done to these three students, you are representing Damascus College with pride and passion.

Travis Takes Gold

Congratulations to Year 12 student Travis O’Brien, as he recently won a gold medal at the 60km Australian Gravel Cycling Championships, in the Junior Men (17-18 yrs).

Travis normally competes in road cycling, but tried his hand at gravel cycling - bravo. The event was part of Amy’s Gran Fondo, a memorial ride for Amy Gillett.

Well done Travis, what a fantastic effort.
