An exciting opportunity exists for girls studying year 7,8 and 9 at Damascus College to join with other like-minded young ladies from local secondary schools at an innovative Girls in Stem program offered by the Ballarat Tech School. The Ballarat Tech School provides a structured program over two consecutive days each term involving a combination of industry tours, guest speakers, skill based workshops and applied hands-on learning to support girls in exploring their STEM pathways within a range of industry areas.

The first Girls in STEM program on March 2nd and 3rd will be in partnership with Mars Wrigley. The focus of this STEM program is manufacturing and engineering in the food industry including the design of a new product, computer aided design technology, prototyping and waste.

The aim is for the girls to commit to 8 days across the year where possible. The 2020 Girls in STEM program dates:
• Term 1: March 2 & 3
• Term 2: June 1 & 2
• Term 3: July 24 & 27
• Term 4: October 8 & 9
• IBM EXITE Camp September 14, 15, 16 & 17 (Optional)
