As part of our Catholic tradition, today the Damascus College community celebrated our Opening Mass and Assembly to kick off the 2020 school year.
It was a wonderful occasion, where we welcomed Bishop Paul Bird to preside over the mass and he reminded us of the need for us all to be merciful - compassionate and kind, in all that we do. Our very talented College choir also led us all beautifully in numerous hymns throughout the mass.
College Principal Matthew Byrne explored our College theme for this year 'Do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with your god' and encouraged all students to be their best and experience the many co-curricular opportunities that are available at the College.
The Year 7 badges were blessed and we acknowledged the Student Representative Council student leaders for 2020. It was also an occasion to congratulate the many students that were part of the 2019 Yearbook Committee, for their hard work and dedication, and to congratulate the many award recipients from the 2019 Australian Mathematics Competition.
