Update from our Rowing Captains
Recently all our seniors and inters raced at the Barwon regatta in Geelong. After a big week of rowing camp for the whole squad, the inters and seniors competed in both eights and fours over the course of the day with everyone in each event rowing heats and finals.
In the morning the inter boys and senior boys came together to create an eight with the inter and senior girls doing the same. The boys came third in both their heat and the C final, the girls came fourth in their heat after having to stop due to an on water collision, they got a second in their final. Both crews had really great rows with both doing well for only having limited training in the coxed eight beforehand.
Later in the day the intermediate boys and the senior boys raced in the male coxed four open division 3 and the inter and senior girls raced in the female coxed four open division 3 events. The senior boys crew placed second in their heat and third in the B final, the inter boys placed third in their heat and third in the C final. The intermediate girls placed second in their heat and third in the B final and the senior girls placed third in their heat and then came through to win their C grade final. Everyone worked extremely hard to row the best they could.
We’d like to say a big thank-you to all the coaches for their hard work and to the parents who helped organise lunch for all our big appetites and to those who came down to support! We are so proud of all our rowers, keep smashing out the work because we’re in the home stretch now with less than a month until Head of the Lake!!
The event which was held 1st & 2nd of February had the Damascus rowing squad split between 2 regattas, on Saturday the Seniors competed on Lake Wendouree in the Wendouree Ballarat Regatta, with the Intermediate & Junior Boys competing on Sunday. Results for this event will follow soon.
