Timor Immersion Welcomes Ryder-Cheshire Foundation
On Tuesday 4th May 2019 Timor Leste Immersion team welcomed Dianne McGrath and Andy Naus from the Ballarat Ryder-Cheshire group. Ryder-Cheshire established and support Klibur Domin, in Tibar in Timor Leste.
Ryder-Cheshire was started by Sue Ryder and Leonard Cheshire 60 years ago to relieve suffering throughout the world.
Klibur Domin is a health facility (which means in Tetum ‘sharing the love’) situated about 20km west of Dili in Timor-Leste and was set up in 1999 by Ryder-Cheshire. Each year, since 2013 the Damascus College Immersion Team have visited the Klibur Domin. Its director Sr Joaquim Soares has visited Damascus College on two occasions. Our donations to the facility have been used to support their Tuberculosis and Outreach programs. TB is endemic in Timor Leste.
Dianne presented the group with a certificate thanking the Timor Leste Immersion Program for their ongoing support of Klibur Domin. Andy presented a plaque to accompany the Leonard Cheshire rose presented to College in 2018. The team will visit once more in late June.
