Students stories published in local newspaper
Every year the Ballarat Courier produces the SHOUT magazine in conjunction with Ballarat Secondary School students.
After fielding expressions of interest from Damascus students, Alexandra Gunn (Year 10) and Chloe Keating (Year 11) were chosen to represent Damascus as part of this exciting initiative.
Both students have a passion for writing and saw it is a great opportunity to see the inner workings of a local newspaper.
Over the four month development period, the students were mentored by Courier journalists and photographers, where they got to see what it was like to be a real journalist.
The Courier launched SHOUT today, Wednesday 9 August, where a copy of the magazine was inserted in to every edition of the Ballarat Courier.
Each student that participated wrote a story on a topic of their choice, that was then published in the magazine for all to read. Chloe wrote on 'Confidence' and Ally wrote on 'Coping with grief.'
Well done to Ally and Chloe, you both did a great job and we hope you had a fantastic and memorable experience.
